Joan Louise Vanatta Glasmire, 81, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 28, at Middletown Home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Harrisburg, on September 21, 1932, the daughter of the late Markwood and Emma Kohlhaas Vanatta.
Joan was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Steelton and she was a former member of Middletown Interfaith Housing. She enjoyed many things in life but the love she shared with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was her greatest joy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister Betty Eshenour, brother Kenneth Vanatta, and son-in-law Floyd Breeden.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Edgar Allen Glasmire; five children Glenn (Nancy) Glasmire of Chesterton, Ind., Karen (Michael) Ryan of Mechanicsville, Va., Gayle Breeden of Stephens City, Va., Alan Glasmire of Coraopolis, Pa., and Brian (Joanne) Glasmire of Middletown; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A Tribute to her life will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 2, at her church, 39 N. 2nd St., Steelton, with the Rev. Carol Parr officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the church.
Burial immediately following will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
The family has entrusted the care of the Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. to handle the funeral arrangements.
