For this blog I have chosen to expand on the previous "Is The Grass Realy Greener On The Other Side?". I have volunteered houndreds of hours of my time to non-profit organizations in Middletown and the great feeling i get in return is irreplacable. By volunterring I am not only helping out a particular organization but also individual people. Seeing and hearing the appreciation from those organizations and people gives me a feeling unlike any other. There is this feel good sense that cant be replaced. That feeling of giving back and knowing you are doing something good for people and your community gives you a sense of pride. I choose to volunteer so that i can water the grass that i live on. I dont want to go somewhere else because i think the grass is greener there. I want to make my grass greener right here in Middletown, not only for myself but all of the residence.
By volunteering we all can help make our community (Middletown) a much better place. There are many organizations such as churches, the Middletown Youth Club, Middletown Public Library, Save The Elks campain, Interfaith Food Pantry and many others right here in Middletown and in the surrounding communities that we can all assist. Each of these organizations play a vital roll in making our town what it is and by stepping up and helping their cause you too can be part of that roll.
So I ask you, are you volunteering? Are you watering your grass and helping to make it greener right where you are? Or are you still thinking the grass is greener on the other side? Remember, no matter where you go the grass is always going to need some watering or it will brown out and die just like it may be now.
