Meredith Atkins, Connor Buggy are Lower Dauphin Homecoming royalty

Meredith Atkins was picked as the Lower Dauphin High School Homecoming queen and Connor Buggy was picked as king during festivities in late October.

They were voted upon by members of the senior class.

Meredith, the daughter of Amy and Ken Atkins, is involved in Mini-THON, Special Olympics, field hockey, and lacrosse. She is a co-founder of the Diamond Days baseball program and is a youth field hockey coach. She plans to attend Penn State and major in biology.

Connor is the son of Ken and Deb Buggy. He is a member of the soccer and baseball teams. He is also a senior leader in Falcon Nation. He plans to continue his education and baseball career at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

The court featured eight seniors with the queen crowned at halftime of the Oct. 27 football game and the king crowned at the dance Oct. 28.

Other queen candidates were:

Kamryn Fridey: The daughter of Dave and Kelly Fridey, Kamryn is a member of the tennis and track and field teams. She also participates in Mini-THON, Volunteen, Special Olympics, National Honor Society and Study Buddies. She plans to attend college to major in fashion merchandising.

Olivia Friedrich: The daughter of Alan and Pam Friedrich, Olivia is editor of the yearbook, is a captain on the basketball team and plays volleyball. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Latin Honor Society and interns with a breast cancer nonprofit foundation. She plans to attend the University of Tampa.

Ella Hickey: The daughter of David and Julie Hickey, Ella is a talented musician, playing violin in the orchestra and several honors ensembles. She is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and studies dance at Hershey School of Dance. She plans to attend college and major in music therapy.

Rory Klingensmith: The daughter of Don and Jennifer Klingensmith, Rory is a member of the soccer and track and field teams. She is a member of the orchestra, Volunteen and several honor societies and is a buddy with Special Olympics. She plays soccer with LDC United. She plans to attend Drexel University, play soccer and major in biomedical engineering.

Amelia Marcavage: The daughter of Maryanne and Bob Marcavage, Amelia is a Mini-THON captain and a buddy with Special Olympics and TOPS soccer. She is a member of Volunteen, Ski Club, National Honor Society and National History Honor Society. She plans to attend college and major in mathematics or computer science.

Kourtney Whittington: The daughter of Keith and Linda Whittington, Kourtney is a member of the lacrosse team, Volunteen and various honor societies. She is a captain with Mini-THON and participates in Study Buddies with LD Communities That Care. She plans to attend college and major in marketing.

Paige Zewe: The daughter of Tom and Amy Zewe, Paige is a member of the soccer team and multiple honor societies. She is a buddy with Special Olympics and TOPS soccer and is a Study Buddy with LD Communities That Care. She plans to attend college and major in physical therapy or study to become a physicians’ assistant.

Other king candidates were:

Jackson Becher: The son of Bill and Dawn Becher, Jackson is a member of the soccer and basketball teams. He is a member of the Mini-THON committee and plays club soccer with LDC United. He plans to attend UMBC and continue his education and soccer career.

Aidan Klassen: The son of Mike and Cathleen Klassen, Aidan is a member of the football and track and field teams. He is interning at Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. He plans to attend college and study law and play football.

Josh Saufley: The son of Jon and Colette Saufley, Josh is a member of the basketball and baseball teams. He is Class Council vice president and participates in Mini-THON and National Honor Society and is a buddy with Special Olympics. He plans to attend college and major in education.

Clay Spencer: The son of Kevin and Michele Spencer, Clay plays football and baseball and is a member of multiple honor societies, the Ping Pong Club, Mini-THON and Volunteen. He is also a buddy with Special Olympics. He plans to attend college to study medicine and play football.

Zach Stoner: The son of Scott and Amy Stoner, Zach is a Mini-THON captain, a buddy with Special Olympics and a leader with Falcon Nation. He is also a member of the lacrosse team and National Honor Society. He plans to attend college and major in business.

Derek Wyld: The son of Steve and Dani Wyld, Derek is a member of the golf and baseball teams and is also a member of Mini-THON. He plans to attend Hood College and major in computer science with a cybersecurity focus and play baseball.

Garrett Wylie: The son of Bill and Sherie Wylie, he is a captain of the soccer team and executive director of the school’s Mini-THON. He is a member of multiple honor societies and is a buddy with Special Olympics. He plans to attend college to major in business and possibly play soccer.
