A bag containing $12,000 was reported stolen from a woman as she was about to make a deposit at the M&T Bank at 120 South Union Street in Middletown Saturday morning, Nov. 5, borough police say.

A white male grabbed the woman by her shoulder from behind and turned her around as she was about to make the deposit, Police Chief George Mouchette told the Press & Journal. The man took the bag from her and fled.

The man did not display a weapon, Mouchette said. The woman was making the deposit as manager of the Turkey Hill Convenience Store in Highspire, the chief said.

The incident was reported to police shortly after 10 a.m.

The robbery is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call borough police at 717-902-0627, or 717-558-6900 after hours non-emergency.
