Middletown police arrested three people on drug charges following a traffic stop for an expired registration in the area of Adelia and East Emaus streets just before 2 a.m. July 2.

Police determined that the driver of the dark blue 2007 Honda Accord sedan, Tyler David Odell, 22, homeless, was under the influence of a narcotic, police said in arrest papers filed with District Judge David Judy.

A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded about 167 grams of marijuana and 37 grams of crystal methamphetamine in clear plastic bags, police said.

Police also found $440, a digital scale, and numerous other items of drug paraphernalia including hypodermic needles, straws, blunt wrappers, a push rod, a glass stem with crystal substance inside, cotton swabs, and vape cartridges, police said.

Odell was arraigned before Judy on July 2 and charged with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, DUI of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving an unregistered vehicle.

Odell’s cash bail was set at $75,000.

Julie Renee Bell, 24, of the 1300 block of East King Street in Lancaster, a passenger in the car, was charged with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.

Another passenger in the car, 30-year-old Justin Robert Witmer of the 800 block of Campus Road in Elizabethtown, was also charged with manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance, and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $10,000 unsecured.

All three defendants were scheduled for a July 8 preliminary hearing before Judy.
