Posted

The Pennsylvania Turnpike will be closed between Harrisburg East Exit 247 and Lebanon-Lancaster Exit 266 from 11:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 17 to 6 a.m. Sunday Aug. 18 to remove and replace bridge beams at milepost 251 as part of the Route 283 project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced.

The same closure will be in effect for the same reason during the following weekend, from 11:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 24 to 6 a.m. Aug. 25.

Motorists should use the following detours during both weekend closures:

Travelers heading east should take Exit 247 (Harrisburg East) to I-283 north to U.S. 322 east to Route 72 south to return to the turnpike at Exit 266 (Lebanon-Lancaster).

Travelers heading west should take Exit 266 (Lebanon-Lancaster) to Route 72 north to U.S. 322 west to I-283 south to return to the turnpike at Exit 247 (Harrisburg East).

Message boards will be activated to alert motorists of any delays, PennDOT said.
