Conflict over taxi ride leads to multiple charges vs. woman: Lower Swatara Police Roundup

Tameika Jackson, 35, of the 30 block of Genesis Court, Middletown, has been charged with possession of marijuana and theft of services, police report.

The charges stem from an altercation between Jackson and a driver for an area taxi company at 8:26 p.m. Nov. 20. Police said Jackson claimed she had lost her money and was unable to pay a $30 fee to transport her from Harrisburg to Middletown and was being taken back to Harrisburg by the taxi driver, who also refused to permit her to get out of his vehicle. The taxi driver called police to report the incident at the same time Jackson reportedly called police to report she was being prevented from exiting the taxi.

Police questioned all parties in the parking lot of a business on West Harrisburg Pike. Reportedly Jackson was found to have an undisclosed amount of marijuana.

Jackson is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Dec. 14 before District Judge Michael Smith.

Simple assault charge

A charge of simple assault has been filed against Austin Steckowski, 25, of the 100 block of Grimm Lane, Middletown, following a disturbance at his home at 11:30 p.m. Nov. 24, police report.

Police allege that Steckowski hit the victim with a closed fist and broke numerous items at the home. The victim reportedly suffered facial injuries but did not request medical attention.

Steckowski was taken into custody Nov. 25 and arraigned before District Judge George Zozos. Court records noted he was placed in Dauphin County Prison after not posting $1,000 cash bail.

He is scheduled to appear before District Judge Michael Smith on Dec. 13 for a preliminary hearing.

Cited for public drunkenness

Police report a citation for public drunkenness has been filed against William Vallier, 44, of the 1000 block of Skyhill Road, Bridgewater, New Jersey, following an incident at a motel in the 800 block of South Eisenhower Boulevard.

According to the investigating officer, Vallier was intoxicated and creating a disturbance at the Holiday Inn at 1:39 a.m. Nov. 25. He had an odor of alcohol on his breath and did not heed police officers’ requests to stop shouting.
