Separate drug-related cases

A student at Middletown Area High School has been charged with drug-related offenses after allegedly being in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, police report.

According to police, the 16-year-old Middletown area resident had an unspecified number of Alprazolam pills and a small straw. Alprazolam is a prescription drug, and the student had not been prescribed it, police noted. The pills and the straw were found in a cigarette case. Xanax is a common brand of Alprazolam.

The incident took place at the high school at 11 a.m. Nov. 29.

Also on Nov. 29 at the high school, a 15-year-old student has been charged with possession of marijuana after the controlled substance was found in the student’s book bag in a locker.

Reportedly one marijuana cigarette was found and confiscated by police.

In a separate case, police report that an area teenager has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident at Middletown Area Middle School at 4:11 p.m. Dec. 5.

According to police, the 16-year-old Elizabethtown resident was at the school attending a counseling session and reportedly had brought a glass pipe. The pipe was found in a bathroom, police reported.

Other citations

• Citations for disorderly conduct were issued to two Middletown Area Middle School students following their involvement in a fight at 7:56 a.m. Nov. 28. The investigating officer said the fight between a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old was fueled by comments exchanged on the social media platform Snapchat. Reportedly one of the students suffered a minor scratch to her cheek that did not require medical attention.

• Two students were cited for disorderly conduct following a fight at Middletown Area Middle School at 10:51 a.m. Dec. 7, police said. Police did not have any additional details about the incident that involved 11- and 12 -year-old Middletown area residents.

• Two students, ages 12 and 13 years, were cited for disorderly conduct after fighting at the school at noon Dec. 4, police said.

Police said the fight took place in the school’s cafeteria. There were no injuries. The investigating officer reported that the fight was the second such incident for one of the students.

• Two students at the Middletown Area High School were cited for disorderly conduct for allegedly fighting at the school at 11:20 a.m. Dec. 6. Two 15-year-olds were fighting in a bathroom. There were no injuries. Both students are on juvenile probation for incidents unrelated to the incident. Police did not disclose what had prompted the altercation.

• On Dec. 6 at the high school, a 17-year-old student was charged with aggravated assault following an incident with a teacher at 8:30 a.m. According to police, the student left class without permission and became involved in an altercation with a teacher outside of the classroom. There were no injuries.

• Two 14-year-old Middletown area residents were cited for fighting at the school at 12:20 p.m. Dec. 4. Police said the incident took place in one of the classrooms at the school but did not disclose any additional details.
