Editor's Voice: Two impressive events are worthy of congrats

A Homecoming is held every year at every school that plays football in Pennsylvania, but it was a joy to see such a great number of alumni celebrate such a landmark anniversary with current students. We congratulate the Middletown Area Alumni Association for staging such a joyous and nostalgic event.

Two days later, the Kiwanis Club held its annual Halloween parade through Middletown, a parade that has become one of the best in the area.

Floats, bands, costumed characters, and even candy thrown to children along the parade route  – the parade is colorful and substantial. It ended about two hours after it began, rolling through the streets of Middletown.

The streets were lined with spectators, many from town and many from surrounding communities. It’s a testament to the quality of the parade that so many people from outside Middletown come to watch, or to march in it – firefighters, cheerleaders, Scout troops and youth football teams from neighboring communities as well as Middletown. We congratulate the Kiwanis Club for another Halloween success.{jcomments on}
