Eigth-grader Miller wins Middletown Area Middle School geography bee

Posted

Eighth-grader Jordan Miller beat out nine other Middletown Area Middle School students in the annual National Geographic Geography Bee at the school Jan. 8.

The students were awarded a spot in the geography bee by placing in the top 10 scores on a geography test taken by the entire student body.

Students answered questions regarding mountain ranges, bodies of water, capitol cities and more.

After seven students were eliminated, RJ Gomboc, Jade Lesisko and Jordan remained. Jade answered her next question incorrectly and was named the third-place winner.

RJ and Jordan entered the head-to-head championship round, and the questions increased in difficulty.

Finally, several rounds in, a body of water stumped RJ and Jordan produced the correct answer to become champion.

Jordan now will take a written test in hopes of qualifying for additional competitions against area middle school students.
