She was born September 22, 1924, was a graduate of both the Norwich Free Academy and the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy, and was the first practicing female pharmacist in Norwich. Gen and Steve shared 50 years of golf and traveled to the Middle East, Europe, and most of the U.S. She enjoyed gardening, bridge, a good game of pinochle, attending theater productions, and Hershey Bears games.
Gen and Steve raised three daughters Susan Lee of Melbourne, Fla., Elizabeth Schaffhauser of Fairbanks, Ark., and Joanne Bakel of Middletown. In addition, Gen leaves three sons-in-law Ernest Lee, Gerald Walker, and Troy Bakel; four grandchildren Stefanie, Russell, Benjamin, and Joshua; and five grandpups.
Funeral services will occur in Norwich at the convenience of the family.
Donations in Gen’s memory can be directed to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
