Why does Middletown borough refuse to give parking permits to the residents of Middletown Interfaith Apartments at 107 Mill St.?
Yes, the apartments do have parking spaces. Unfortunately, we only have 42 spaces and 16 residents waiting for a space, which means they have to find parking in the surrounding areas.
Those residents are parking blocks away and have to walk to the building with their walkers in all types of weather.
Most of their trips are for medical purposes.
The average age of the residents in the building is about 77, which relates to those who are having to walk many blocks to their cars.
It is a growing opinion among the residents that the borough is discriminating against the elderly. Shame on them!
I am one of those residents and we are all very unhappy.
