Golf outing at Sunset raises $3,500 for multiple groups

Posted

Sunset Golf Course was the venue for the eighth annual Leroy Lucas Memorial Golf Tournament, sponsored by The Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge 12.

The event, held on May 24, saw 120 golfers participating to raise money for various charity organizations, including The ALS Society, Easter Seals, and the Children’s Resource Center.

The tournament’s namesake, investigator Leroy Lucas, served as a Marine during the Vietnam War, and was retired from the Harrisburg City Police. Lucas, an avid golfer, was the founder of the first tournament. Subsequent to his passing from complications of Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), the tournament was named in his honor.

It raised about $3,500 this year.
