Sassaman is the daughter of David and Lynn Sassaman. She is a member of the cross country and girls lacrosse teams and also participated in track and field. She plays violin in the orchestra and is a two year-member of the Young Republicans and the National English Honor Society.

She has attended several leadership camps and was a member of last year’s Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy at the high school.

She plans to attend the U.S. Naval Academy, the Virginia Military Institute or another college or university with an NROTC program with the goal of becoming an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
