Ho ho ... how big is the crowd? Breakfast with Santa draws hundreds to Middletown Home

The lines were long, but the mood was merry Sunday at the Middletown Home’s Breakfast with Santa.

The fourth annual event has grown in popularity each passing year, receiving around 700 RSVPs this year, double the amount received in 2016. Hundreds more showed up on Sunday without reservations.

“We love to do this,” said Andrea Henney, Middletown Home’s director of marketing. “We love to invite the community into our home and see what we’re all about.”

Nicole Sheehe and daughter Sienna, 3, of Harrisburg, visited the home’s Breakfast with Santa for the first time this year. “We’ve never been here before, but it’s awesome,” said Nicole Sheehe, who said she heard about the event on Facebook.

Other activities at Sunday’s event included a reading of Christmas tales by Middletown Home pastors Dan Gilbert and Bonner Davis.

Henney said events like the Santa breakfast and annual Pumpkin Fest are “totally fundraisers” that run on donations from the public.

“This is a benevolent home. Funds raised during these events go toward our residents who have exhausted their own funds,” she said.

The Middletown home offers residency for older citizens through a 102-patient health center, 51 personal-care living spaces, and 17 senior apartments. The facility currently is putting the finishing touches on a new wing that includes a fitness and rehab gym.

“I like seeing how we’re growing and changing and becoming a part of the community,” Henney said.
