Humble Stitch fiber arts store GRAND OPENING
Humble Stitch, a fiber arts supply store, is a new destination for crafting and community.
Kaitlin Schreiber, a Perry County native, opens the new brick-and-mortar storefront to provide Newport and beyond with a home base for cultivating the knitting, sewing and quilting enthusiasm of central Pennsylvania’s ardent and aspiring crafters.
With hand-dyed varieties of yarn and rug-hooking fabric; exclusive cross-stitch patterns; quilting, garment, and bag fabric galore; and dozens of brands and bolts, at Humble Stitch, customers are in the hands of a devoted crafter. Schreiber has curated a resource for big fans and beginners alike that reflects her passion for fiber arts.
“I am honored to offer quality materials, an inviting environment and opportunities for hands-on learning in a space for those who love to gather and create," said Schreiber.
On July 14, the opening of Humble Stitch will debut a schedule for beginner classes in knitting, crochet, embroidery, quilting and sewing.
Classes will be held in the store's 140-square-foot-plus community room, a beautiful facet of the historic Gantt Hotel building out of which Humble Stitch operates.
"I have been dreaming of opening a store like this ever since I was in middle school," said Schreiber. "When I viewed the space, with its gorgeous historical details and amazing natural light, all in the heart of Newport, I knew it was the time and place to open Humble Stitch.”
Between classes, during Humble Stitch business hours, the chairs, couch, coffee table and natural light that fills the community room are open to customers to come and craft with each other.
Central Pennsylvania’s art and retail communities are richer for the addition of Humble Stitch, open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 10-7 in Newport.
