Hummelstown veteran to talk about serving in Vietnam War

The Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Vietnam Veterans of America, Michael Novosel MOH Chapter 542, 8000 Derry St.

Following a brief business meeting, Dan Dorsheimer, from Hummelstown, will discuss his Vietnam service as an infantryman with the 4th Infantry Division.

He grew up in Hummelstown, graduating from Lower Dauphin High School in 1966. He was drafted in June 1967, ending up in Vietnam in November 1967, serving 366 days with A Company/2nd/35th/3rd Brigade/4th Infantry Division, until November 1968. Following his service, he worked various jobs before retiring from Coca-Cola with 22 years of service.

He was awarded the National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Campaign and Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman’s Badge and Army Commendation Medal with V-Device.

He has been married to his wife, Fran, for 28 years, and they have one son, Sage, who lives in Williamsburg, Virginia.

He is an active member of the Hummelstown American Legion, and a life member of the Hershey VFW and VVA 542.

Central Pennsylvania Vietnam Round Table meetings are open to the public. Anyone interested in the history of the Vietnam War is invited to attend.
