Job fair to be held at Penn State Harrisburg on Monday July 9 for new hotel about to open on Harrisburg International Airport

A job fair to fill about 50 positions in the new Fairfield Inn & Suites hotel on Harrisburg International Airport will be held Monday July 9 in the Penn State Harrisburg library.

The job fair will run from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and then from 3 to 6 p.m.

Among the 50 positions to be filled are front desk workers, guest room attendants, housekeeping workers and housekeeping supervisors, bartenders and servers, several salaried manager positions, and engineers, said Mark Anthony Burnett II.

The new hotel is to open around the second week of September, Burnett said while giving a tour of the hotel on Friday, July 6.

The four-story Fairfield Inn & Suites will have 123 rooms, including 74 rooms with king-sized beds and 49 rooms with two queen-size beds.

The King rooms will include a number of King suites, as will also be the case with the queen rooms. Seven rooms will be wheelchair-accessible.

The hotel will offer complimentary breakfast, a fitness center, two meeting rooms with a combined 1,700 square feet of business space, and a large outdoor courtyard including a fire pit.

The hotel will also have an evening bar with light fare menu. The hotel will be reaching out to local distilleries to feature locally-brewed beers on tap, Burnett said, as well as bottled beer and top-shelf liquors.

A large electronic digital sign will be placed next to the hotel to provide advertising for businesses to reach airport travelers.

There will be ice machines, but in place of vending machines the hotel will offer a “24/7” market on the first floor featuring salads, pre-made sandwiches, and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The hotel is located next to the airport parking garage, which is connected to the airport terminal.

It will be a short walk for hotel guests to get to the parking garage elevator, which they can take to the second floor which leads to the terminal. Guests will be able to park in the airport parking garage at a reduced rate.

The hotel will provide a shuttle service by appointment for people who want a ride directly to the terminal.
The lobby in the first floor of the hotel will have a screen providing the same kind of flight arrival and departure information that travelers see inside the airport terminal, Burnett said.
