Kenneth Ross Kinsey


Kenneth Ross Kinsey, 84, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Middletown Home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 5, 1933 in Middletown and was the son of the late C. Lester and Mary A. (Hahn) Kinsey.

Ken was of the Methodist faith and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, a member of Prince Edwin-Spring Creek Lodge No. 486, VFW Post 1620, and American Legion Post 594, all of Middletown.

Ken loved helping coach his daughter Debbie throughout her softball career. In addition, he coached the American Legion Post 594 baseball team as well as several other teams throughout his life. Ken loved watching his grandsons play sports, enjoyed reading, hunting, golfing, sharing stories, and making people laugh. He was an avid Penn State football fan, holding season tickets for over 20 years.

Ken was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother Chuck, and three sisters Jean, Helen and Mildred.

Ken is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Edith “Sis” (Barge) Kinsey; three daughters Cathy Kinsey Smith, Michelle Kinsey and Debbie Kinsey Matincheck and her husband Nick; three grandchildren Kyle Smith, Luk Devorski, and Nicholas Matincheck; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family has decided to honor Ken’s wishes with a private service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ken’s name may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown, Pa., has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
