Kuppy’s Cruise-in is Aug. 22; viral sensation to sing National Anthem

Kuppy’s Diner Cruise-in is rolling back into town Aug. 22.

This year, the car show will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Union and Brown streets in Middletown, and the rain date is Aug. 29.

Last year, the show raised $17,200 for Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Inc. This year, proceeds will again go to it.

Kuppy’s Diner co-owner Carol Kupp estimated about 100 cars and 20 motorcycles presented last year.

But there will be so much more at the cruise-in — music, a kids corner with face painting, a silent auction, food court, and a dunk tank mostly manned by Middletown Police Department officers.

Landon Mak, a 4-year-old who wowed a Hershey Bears crowd in March and made national headlines in the process, will sing the National Anthem at the cruise-in.

Kupp was one of the people in attendance at the hockey game.

“I’ve never seen the Giant Center so quiet,” she said.

She talked to Mak’s mom, who told her he learned the song by watching YouTube videos.

Kupp expects Mak will perform at about 7 p.m.
