Kuppy's Diner delays Cruise-In because of potential for rain on Thursday

With rain predicted for Thursday, Kuppy’s Diner Cruise-in has been postponed until Aug. 29.

On Aug. 29, the car show will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Union and Brown streets in Middletown. Landon Mak will sing the National Anthem at about 7 p.m.

“We have watched weather 24/7 for days now & our HIA weather pro is saying we will have rain/storms again tomorrow evening so … the rain date of next Thursday, 8/29 4pm to 8 pm, has to happen. We know that this messes a lot of schedules up for many of our volunteers. Thanks for your understanding at the last minute change. Hoping for blue skies next week!!” Kuppy’s posted on its Facebook page.

The National Weather Service is predicting a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Thursday, and a 50 percent chance of precipitation.

Last year, about 100 cars and 20 motorcycles presented. The cruise-in raised $17,200 for the Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors Inc., and proceeds will go to the organization again this year.

Besides cars and motorcycles, the cruise-in will also feature music, a kids corner with face painting, a silent auction, a food court, and a dunk tank mostly manned by Middletown Police Department officers.
