Louis H. Souders, 70, of Middletown, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 4, 1946 in Harrisburg and was the son of the late Arthur H. and Ada L. (Berluti) Souders.
He was a 1964 graduate of Middletown Area High School. Louis was an Army veteran of the 101 Airborne Screaming Eagles during the Vietnam War where he received The Jumping Mustang Certificate of Achievement for outstanding performance of duty as a combat infantryman in the jungles of Vietnam.
He was a carpenter and worked at Three Mile Island and the New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a past commander and member of American Legion Post 594, Middletown and also coached the Legion’s baseball team. Louis enjoyed golfing, watching Penn State football and entertaining.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Martha (Grosso) Souders; two daughters Lisa M. Smith and her fiancé John H. Troup of Middletown, and Stacy A. Souders of Middletown; grandchildren Kevin and Kylie Smith, Jonah Troup, Tyler L. and Austin L. Malehorn; and four siblings James, George, and Ronald Souders and Arda Matinchek.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Matinchek Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 260 E. Main St., Middletown, with the Rev. Ted Keating officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Inurnment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
