Lower Swatara changes trick or treat to Halloween

Residents talked, and Lower Swatara Township listened.

Trick or treat will be on Halloween in the township, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., according to Police Chief Jeff Vargo.

“We advertised it to be on the 24th, and subsequently recognized that it wasn’t a popular decision,” he said.

Middletown is also holding its trick or treat on Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The Dauphin County Chiefs of Police Association, which many municipalities use for guidance on when to hold trick or treat, voted to have it Oct. 24.

“Clearly, the better option was Halloween. So the police department listened to feedback and changed it to the day that clearly made sense, which is Halloween,” Vargo said.

In the township, the police department will be out on Halloween.

“We’re looking forward to a fun event on Halloween,” Vargo said.
