Men charged with soliciting a prostitute in Lower Swatara Township vice sting

Posted

A West Shore man and a Londonderry Township resident were both charged with patronizing a prostitute during a vice detail conducted in Lower Swatara Township on Dec. 1.

Township police in arrest papers filed with District Judge Michael Smith said that Joseph Eugene Sacoman, 58, 400 block of Linden Street in Mechanicsburg; and David Bruce Hendrickson, 54, 1800 block of Geyers Church Road, had both responded to an ad that had been posted on craigslist.com and backpage.com.

Both men sent a text message to a person whom the men thought was a prostitute, asking for oral sex in exchange for payment of money. Sacoman offered $60, Hendrickson offered $80, according to arrest papers.

The person both men were texting was an officer posing as a prostitute.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Dec. 1, both men met with the officer in a room of the Holiday Inn on South Eisenhower Boulevard and paid the agreed-upon amount. At that point, Sacoman and Hendrickson were both taken into custody without incident, according to arrest papers.

Sacoman and Hendrickson are both charged with one count each of patronizing a prostitute. Hendrickson is also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both men are scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Smith on Jan. 18.

The vice detail was conducted with police from “several other surrounding” departments, according to information posted on the Lower Swatara police website on Dec. 15.

More information regarding what departments and how many officers participated in the raid was not made available.
