Middletown Area High School winter sports athletes recognized

Student athletes and coaches were recognized for their performance during the 2018-19 winter sports season of Middletown Area School District during the school board’s March 19 meeting.

The following students and coaches were recognized in their respective sports:

Girls basketball

Kate Fitzpatrick, who scored her 1,000th career points and was selected as a first-team Mid-Penn Conference All-Star; and coach Bob Pelletier.

Boys basketball

Tyler Petroski, who was an honorable mention Mid-Penn Conference All-Star; and coach Chris Bradford.

Swimming

Gavin Guckavan, who was all Mid-Penn and District III in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke; and coach Mark Shipkowski.

Bowling

Cody Brunner, who advanced through districts and Eastern Regionals to take sixth place at the PIAA state championships; and coach Daryl Bower.

Wrestling

The team was recognized for being 2018-19 Mid-Penn Conference Capital Division co-champions.

Ryan Berstler (100 career matches won, fourth place at districts, regionals, first-team Mid Penn Conference Capital Division All-Star), Nathan Brady (districts), Kenneth Britcher, Vincent Corradi, Arthur Dash, Luke Fegley (second place at districts, third place at regionals, second-team Mid Penn Conference Capital Division All-Star), Diante Gray, Ivan Henderson, Chris Joseph (districts), Damien Leech, Zach Malay, Ayden Miller, Matthew Mitchell (districts), Quincy Reinnagel (districts), Krea Scheaffer, Joseph Spear (fifth place at districts, regionals, first-team Mid-Penn Conference Capital Division All-Star), Troy Stein, Jeremy Wells, Marcus Williams, Damion Williams, and Case Woodley. Coaches are head coach Daniel Riggs and assistants Earl Bright IV, Tony Colemire, Carl Dupes and Drew Heying.
