Middletown hires part-time police officer

Nate Owens of Hanover was hired as a new part-time patrol officer on the Middletown Police Department by borough council during its June 4 meeting.

Originally from Littlestown, Owens was formerly a Harrisburg city police officer.

He is a 2012 graduate of Shippensburg University with a degree in criminal justice.

Owens is also a graduate of the police academy at Harrisburg Area Community College. He was tops in his class at the HACC academy for academic achievement, Police Chief George Mouchette told council.

Otherwise, Owens is an Eagle Scout. He also likes the outdoors and enjoys hiking, camping, fishing and hunting.

Owens joins five other part-time officers who are listed on the MPD roster on the borough website.

The department has 13 full-time officers, including Mouchette.
