Middletown softball beats East Pennsboro

The Middletown softball team won one and lost two in the last week to stand at 7-6 on the season.

The Blue Raiders won at East Pennsboro but lost at home to Northern York and at James Buchanan.

They are No. 11 in the PIAA District III Class 4A power rankings. The top 10 make the postseason.

In a 9-6 win last Wednesday vs. East Pennsboro, the Blue Raiders picked up 10 hits and Noelle Zimmerman got the win on the mound, giving up six runs on eight hits in seven innings. She struck out five.

Luvi Balliet hit a home run for Middletown.

Hayli Akakpo-Martin and Carly Dupes both had two hits.

On Thursday, in a 12-5 loss at Northern York, Jenna Alford took the loss on the mound, allowing 12 hits and 12 runs in seven innings. She struck out one.

Camilia Martinez had two hits for Middletown.

Middletown lost at James Buchanan on Monday, 11-1. Madison Gipe was the losing pitcher, giving up 10 runs on 13 hits in 2 1/3 innings. She struck out one.

Kate Fitzpatrick and Alyse Ulrich each had a hit for Middletown.
