Middletown senior Ryan Hughes recently was selected for the Class 4A Pennsylvania Sports Writers All-State Boys Basketball Team.

Hughes, a 6-foot-4 senior, averaged 21.6 points per game. He was named to the 4A second team.

Hughes closed out his scholastic career with 1,838 total points, according to statistics from the MAHS basketball team, second on the all-time scoring record at Middletown, trailing only Dave Grabulof. He scored 2,000 points in the 1990s.

He announced in February that he will play college basketball at Ursinus College, a private, independent, coeducational, liberal arts college in Collegeville, about 25 miles from Center City Philadelphia.

Their teams compete in the Centennial Conference.
