Middletown police charged a borough woman following a dispute in the first block of East High Street shortly after 12 p.m. Feb. 8.

Police in arrest papers filed with District Judge David Judy said that Brandy Lee Betz, 41, of the same address, stole a $20 bill from a woman and then pushed a man into his car.

Betz is charged with theft by unlawful taking, harassment, and disorderly conduct. Her preliminary hearing before Judy is scheduled for March 4.

Three-car accident

Middletown police charged an Elizabethtown woman after determining she caused a three-vehicle crash at East Main and Spruce streets at about 6:12 p.m. Nov. 7, 2019.

Police in arrest papers filed with District Judge David Judy said a blue Toyota Corolla driven by Badivah Cicero Robinson, 19, of the 6000 block of Poplar Path, drove into the rear of a Nissan Rogue.

The impact pushed the Rogue into the back of a black Acura, police said. The driver of the black Acura told police he was stopped because the car in front of him was stopped waiting for traffic to clear in order to turn left.

The Rogue and the Acura were both stopped when the Corolla driven by Robinson crashed into the Rogue, according to witness accounts cited by police. All three drivers told police they were not injured.

Police said they detected a strong odor of marijuana from Robinson’s car. She told police she had smoked marijuana about 25 minutes earlier, and consented to a vehicle search.

Police found marijuana residue and drug paraphernalia. Two passengers told police the items belonged to Robinson.

Police said Robinson consented to a blood draw at the county booking center. Lab results received Nov. 22 showed the presence of the active ingredient of marijuana in Robinson’s blood, according to police.

On Feb. 18 police through Judy’s office charged Robinson with careless driving, possession of marijuana, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and DUI of a controlled substance. Her preliminary hearing before Judy is March 18.

Police charge Harrisburg man

Middletown police charged a Harrisburg man following an incident at a residence in the 100 block of Ann Street at about 8:20 p.m. Feb. 13.

Police in arrest papers filed with District Judge David Judy said that Nelson James Chisolm, 32, of the 1900 block of Mulberry Street, fought with a woman during a dispute.

The woman had bruises up and down both arms, police said. Chisolm broke a window in the apartment during the incident, according to police.

Chisolm is charged with simple assault and defiant trespass. He is awaiting setting of a preliminary hearing.

Strangulation charges

State Police charged a man following an incident at a residence in the 1500 block of Zion Road in Londonderry Township at about 2 p.m. Feb. 18.

According to arrest papers police filed with District Judge David Judy, Jason Alexander Mullen, 30, of the Zion Road address, and a woman were arguing over a cellphone when Mullen hit the woman in the face several times.

Mullen then applied pressure to the woman’s neck with his forearm, according to police. The victim fled and called police.

Mullen was arraigned Feb. 18 before District Judge Hanif L. Johnson Sr. and charged with strangulation, simple assault, and harassment.

Cash bail was set at $100,000. A preliminary hearing before Judy is set for March 4.
