Raider girls basketball loses three for week, falls to 4-16

The Middletown girls basketball team fell to 4-16 on the season with losses last week to West Perry, Pequea Valley and Gettysburg.

Senior Kate Fitzpatrick scored 64 points in the three games, putting her within 5 points of Ja’Lynn Burton-Jones on the Middletown girls all-time scoring list. Burton-Jones scored 1,586 points in her career.

The Raiders lost at West Perry on Jan. 28.

Fitzpatrick had 19 points, 2 steals and 6 assists. Sophomore Makayla Claggett added 6 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists.

Senior Jordyn Dupes scored 7 points with 8 rebounds and 2 steals, and sophomore Tamia Hill Johnson recorded 7 points and eight rebounds.

Also scoring for Middletown were junior Amanda Lee (2 points, 5 rebounds and 1 steal) and freshman Christine Miller (4 points).

At home against Pequea Valley on Jan. 29, Fitzpatrick scored 22 points with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Claggett added 9 points, 1 rebound, 2 steals and 2 assists.

Lee had 4 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist, and sophomore Chloe Cleland registered 2 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist.

Also scoring for Middletown were senior Nakia Scott (2 points) and Hill-Johnson (2 points).

Dupes added 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals.

At Gettysburg on Saturday in the YIAA/Mid-Penn Showcase, Fitzpatrick had 23 points (including three 3-pointers) 3 assists and 3 rebounds.

Claggett had 7 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist, and Dupes scored 2 points, with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Scott added 2 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

The team will wrap up the season with Milton Hershey on Feb. 4 and Lower Dauphin on Feb. 7.
