The future is bright for Middletown wrestling, even if the 2013-14 season presents its challenges.

The Blue Raiders lost several of last year’s studs, including Bryce Killian, who graduated, and Chris Holloman and district qualifier Levi Sterner, who aren’t wrestling this year, said Coach Mike Nauman.

But even with the losses, Middletown’s squad is growing in size: The team boasts 26 wresters – 11 more than last year – thanks to an influx of talented freshmen.

“We’re really excited about the new kids,” Nauman said. “I think a lot of the seniors are excited about some of the freshmen, because they’re doing so well. Good things are happening.”{jcomments on}
