A Red Cross shelter is opening at 5 p.m. today Tuesday July 25 in Middletown Area Middle School for people displaced by the flooding that occurred on Sunday.

The shelter will provide food, a safe place to sleep, and support for Middletown area residents who have experienced flooding or storm damage in their homes, the Red Cross said in a press release just issued.

People coming to the shelter should bring identification and their personal medications and medical supplies with them. It is also recommended that people bring blankets, pillows, extra clothing, personal hygiene items, any infant/child items, and important documents.

The shelter and related disaster assistance is being provided by the Red Cross free of charge, and is made possible by voluntary donations of time and money to the Red Cross, and in part by contributions given through United Way.

You can help people affected by disasters such as floods, fires, tornadoes and hurricanes by donating to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Visit www.redcross.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to learn more.

Contributions can be sent to the American Red Cross, 1804 N. 6th Street, Harrisburg, Pa. 17102, or to any other Red Cross area office.
