Rep. Mehaffie key to disability legislation: Letter to the Editor

Posted

Thank you to Rep. Thomas Mehaffie for his leadership and steadfast work on addressing autism spectrum disorders in our commonwealth.

Mehaffie has authored House Bill 1900, which I was proud to co-sponsor. This bill establishes a critically-needed professional license for professionals who are qualified to use Applied Behavior Analysis in the treatment of autism spectrum disorders, heroin and drug addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder, suicide prevention and mental health disorders.

Mehaffie tirelessly researched this issue and found a way to help Pennsylvanians who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. No other elected official in Pennsylvania’s history has authored such legislation with bipartisan support of 110 co-sponsors.

Thank you to Mehaffie for his outstanding service to our commonwealth, to Pennsylvanians who struggle with a disability, and to the families who lovingly support them.

The 106th District is truly fortunate to have a devoted public servant like Rep. Tom Mehaffie. It is my honor to work with him.

Rep. Thomas P. Murt

Upper Moreland Township

Chairman, Human Services Committee; and chairman, Subcommittee on Mental Health
