Stolen gun allegedly found in trunk of car driven by Middletown woman

A traffic stop for tinted windows led to felony charges against a Middletown woman, including receiving stolen property and possession of a firearm without a license.

A gun that was reported stolen in Harrisburg was found in the trunk, according to police.

Court records indicate that Claudette C. White, 41, of the Woodmere Building in Pineford, posted her $15,000 bail. Her preliminary hearing is Aug. 21.

Lower Swatara officers pulled over White at 9:11 p.m. Aug. 5 in the 1300 block of South Eisenhower Boulevard. They said they saw pill bottles in the driver’s side door.

She didn’t consent to a vehicle search, saying she didn’t know everything that was in the car, which is registered to a person in Louisiana and was in the process of being transferred to her. She said she drives it frequently, according to the affidavit filed with District Judge Michael J. Smith.

A police dog indicated the presence of drugs in the car, and police reportedly smelled marijuana.

In both the car and in her pockets, police reportedly found more than 300 pills, including nearly 200 lithium pills, oxycodone, budeprion, benztropine mesylate, mirtazapine and diphenhydramine. All were prescribed to another person. Officers also reportedly found marijuana.

In the trunk, police found a Smith & Wesson handgun loaded with 13 rounds, which had been reported stolen out of Harrisburg, according to the affidavit.

Officers said in the affidavit that White doesn’t have a permit to carry a firearm.

White also is charged with operating a vehicle without required financial responsibility, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance by an unauthorized person.
