A Middletown man faces drug charges after a search by police of his apartment in the 600 block of Spring Street yielded marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and more than $1,500 in cash.

A confidential informant tipped off police about Wilfredo Gigante Jr., 23, according to arrest papers police filed with District Judge David Judy. Gigante also had active warrants out for his arrest, police.

Five borough police officers served the warrants on Gigante and searched his apartment Oct. 17.

Gigante was arraigned before Judy on Oct. 18 and charged with two counts of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; and one count each of selling a controlled substance without a label and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police in arrest papers also noted that the alleged offense occurred within 1,000 feet of a school zone, being Penn State Harrisburg.

Three of the four charges will go to Dauphin County Court after Gigante on Nov. 2 waived his preliminary hearing.

One of the two felony counts for manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver was withdrawn. Gigante's bail was reduced from $35,000 to $10,000. He was released from Dauphin County Prison after posting $10,000 unsecured bail.

Gigante is to be arraigned in county court on Feb. 2, 2018.
