Virginia M. Costlow


Virginia M. Costlow, of Middletown, died on Sunday, August 27, 2017, at the age of 99½. She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on February 20, 1918, the daughter of James and Edna Oschea Cuzzolina.

Virginia was the widow of George Costlow, who died in October 1984. She also was preceded in death by her darling infant daughter, Georgia Claire (twin to Virginia), sister Mary Magdalene White and brother James D. Cuzzolina Jr.

Virginia retired from the Middletown Area School District where she served as an elementary librarian and a sixth grade teacher at Grandview School. She also taught at Seven Sorrows Catholic School from 1951-1953. She was a member of Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Middletown.

Surviving are two daughters, Dolores, wife of Richard Kosco of O’Fallon, Ilinois, and Virginia Galbraith Snow, wife of Art Snow of Harrisburg, Pa., and one sister, Edna Margaret Marinella of Redondo Beach, California.

She was also survived by six loving and devoted grandchildren and 16 precious great-grandchildren: Ken and Mary Kosco, Elizabeth and Joshua of KL, Malaysia; Mike and Jessica, James and Austin of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Theresa and Pat Pollman, Catie, John, Benjamin, Sarah and Luke of Waynesville, Missouri, Mary Jo and Jerry Guzaldo, Francesca and Lillianna of Naperville, Ilinois; Mary and Tim Cutler, Colin, Asher, Madeleine, Isabelle and Chant of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; and George and Alexandra Galbraith of Switzerland.

The viewing will be at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 280 N. Race Street, Middletown, Pa. from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, September 2. Following there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.

Burial will be in the Middletown Cemetery with arrangements by Matinchek Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc.
