City Island walk/run

In case you are thinking about getting out and about in Harrisburg — the Morning Star Pregnancy Services’ “Shooting Star” Walk & 5K Run for Life event will be held at City Island on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Volunteers, walkers, runners and joggers are needed. If you are inclined, go to www.supportmorningstar.com to learn more about it.

Pipe organ duo

Everyone is welcome to attend the pipe organ duo Allegro con Fuoco at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, in the sanctuary at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 121 N. Spring St., Middletown.

Jordan Markham and Tyler Canonicot will present this organ duo.

No tickets are required, but folks can give free will donations.

Dinner served at church

A roast turkey dinner, including stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas, cranberry sauce, beverage and dessert, will be served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Evangelical United Methodist Church, 157 E. Water St., Middletown.

Takeouts are also available. A cost is involved.

Spaghetti Sauce

From the Wedding Book Collection

2 tbsp. olive oil

2 medium onions, chopped

1 8 oz. tomato paste

1 small can tomato puree

1 tbsp. basil

1 tbsp. parsley flakes

1 lb. hamburg

1 large can Italian pear shaped tomatoes

salt to taste

1 tsp. oregano

Simmer 1/2 to 3/4 hour. Make ahead and chill overnight or freeze to improve flavor.

Add your favorite pasta, prepare according to directions on the box.
