With hot weather this weekend, cooling center to be opened at MCSO

With temperatures projected to be in the upper 90s over the weekend, Middletown Borough has opened a cooling station at the MCSO gym at 60 West Emaus Street on Saturday and Sunday.

The borough is asking any residents who want to go to the cooling center to call emergency management at 717-727-4156, and then the center will be opened. 

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures Saturday may reach a high of 98 degrees with a heat index as high as 111. Sunday is projected to be slightly cooler with a high of 95 degrees and the possibility of rain in the afternoon.

An excessive heat warning is in effect from today at noon to Saturday at 8 p.m., and a heat advisory is in place from Saturday at 8 p.m. to Sunday at 8 p.m.
